February State of the Game

With our next update (tentatively 2.62) just weeks away, we’ve been hard at work finalizing the effects changes, balancing the Coresuits, and squeezing some major bug fixes in. We’ve been able to collect a lot of really useful  information, and although this has been a long process, taking the time to gather feedback from the PTS was well worth the time investment; we’re very confident in the changes going live later this month.

After the Stage 3 Coresuits hit live, we will turn our attention to our Next Big Thing. We’ve been looking for more ways for PvE’ers to distinguish themselves and provide a competitive outlet to test their mettle outside of PvP. This led to the Dome – a two man PVE arena where players will be able to enter and trigger a series of battles that are played through consecutively in a (semi) controlled environment. The farther the teams get, the tougher the opponents, and the better the rewards.

We are doing a bunch of pre-production on the Dome, designing the encounters to make sure no one build has a consistent overwhelming advantage and finalizing the design concept for the dome itself as well as the rewards. So while we are still a ways off from having any concrete info, we’re looking forward to sharing more in the next 30 days as things progress. The good news is that as part of pre-production for the Dome, we will be focusing on things like instance stability, and hopefully those fixes will be incorporated even before the dome itself.

In addition to the Dome, we’re looking at adding ways to improve and enhance existing weapons beyond their given capabilities. We’ve tried several iterations of this feature in the past and none of them really satisfied the goals we set for them. The latest version feels solid, giving more freedom while working within the existing systems in a very satisfying way. Expect more info on that when we’re on a bit more solid ground design-wise!

  1. Dome sounds like just another quick to produce, long to play through chunk of pseudocontent. You have huge provinces with hundreds of quests. All that stuff probably once took millions of dollars to put in place, and you're not using any of that potential. People just grind rats and Citadel to get past all of it because it isn't a good way to get meaningful rewards, nor a good way to level up your character in any reasonable amount of time.

Give some substantial rewards that still mater at Level 55 to people who have finished all the quests in a region, that's weeks worth of content that you already have finally leveraged instead of pushed to the side. Also up the XP reward for finishing quests substantially, outside of Sector 1 there aren't even enough quests to level up, and the XP rewards are often less than 5% of what you need for a level.

Just those two things would finally get all the content that Fallen Earth has had since day 1 to a place of relevance. Players don't hate questing and exploring, they just hate not getting rewarded for it because all the best gear is gated with some kind of alternative system that can't be accessed until Level 55, which also makes them grind there as fast as possible.

    1. What Maximillian says is absolutely correct.

What I also believe is that you need to start working on what comes after level 55. We already have stage 2 coresuits for level 55, as well as a lot of other gear. I think what a lot of players want is new content, and not "pseudocontent".

  2. I think what will really be awesome is just to have two player vehicles, you don't need to make new vehicles, as far as i can tell two people can fit on a horse, a ATV, a bike and a car,

This will make the game much more exciting. i think people would want to have this first before the Dome.

    Just my opinion.

    Thanks.

  3. A gladiator Dome would be awesome, providing it have spectators seats with crafting booster. I would love to see players getting rip by monster while crafting. the present of 4 vault type would be lovely. Its need to be more bloodier than bloodsport. Keep up the great works!!

  4. Hope you'll make Domes a worthy alternative of Blood Sports. Maybe by adding Dome merchants that sell DT gear for Dome currency, or something new but as good as DT stuff. For example Medic gear still has no equivalent obtainable via PvE.

  5. G.O.R.E. shotgun. Or not G.O.R.E, just Simple Shotgun for 55 lvl. Absolutely needfull weapon, before all other things.

Vehicles. Many told about in suggestion forum. Multipassenger, make it differently looks and give they different characteristics. Why ALL bikes has 40 speed and ALL horses 30?

Quest rewards total rebalance. Throw out this mob-filled instances you planned, WoW already present. Simple rebalance rewards, and continue plot lines - why they break off in Kaibab? Only Who Are You Clone is finished. Only one from 4. What happens with White Crows - where the Aro Sei? How lives TETRAX? Why Global Tech mission break in Quarantine? And fill the Alpha Country with responsible content.

About craft and crafter. After DT weapons crafters was offended. But GORE trample, reap and destroy most crafters meanings of life. Best weapon? GORE, 1 Tradeskill. Best armor - DT. Now it will be full 3 (only think - the entire three!) suits for 55 level : / Where the weapon upgrades? Grenade launchers for storm rifles, bayonets for carbines, speedloaders for revolvers, enhanced clips for pistols? Where the minigun?

You kill the game with all this pseudo-content. "Go to marketplace and buy new useless wear, don't worry about horrible looks". Make the marketplace items tradeable! What differs, who pay money - one men or 10? I'm never buy useless in gameplay item for money, but i buy it for my chips - from those who buy it from your shop.
