August State of the Game


Now that the Dome is on live, we can turn our attention to the AP Augmented Weapon system. We delayed releasing these with the Dome to ensure that we were able to fully focus on one major project at a time.  Now that we can give the weapons our full attention, we can also tell you more about them!

What are they?
AP Augmented weapons are high end weapons that have stats and skills you can spend excess AP on. These stats and skills will add buffs to your character, increase the amount or change the type of damage weapons can do, and give you another path to improve your character beyond just leveling up. 

How do I get them?
The recipes and components for the AP will be purchasable from either the Dome merchant or at one of your local neighborhood Deathtoll Merchants.

Are there going to be shotguns?
Yes, a rifle and a pistol shotgun

Are you going to fix rifles?
When we introduce the new AP weapons we are also going to look at the balance point of several different types of weapons that already exist in FE and bring them more in line with what we want the damage levels to be.

Are they going to be on PTS?
Yes.  We want to get everyone’s feedback on these so we are going to make sure they are on PTS for a bit before we take them live.

What are you doing after that?
We want to look at opening the map a bit but in less of a traditional, discover quest hub, do missions, and move on kind of way.  After looking at the player response to features such as Citadel and Farms, we want to focus more on the players impact on the world and let everyone drive the action more.  We have a rather ambitious plan for both PvE and PVP and once we get the AP weapons on live we can start revealing more details about it.

  2. I talked to half my guild about this game. They said they would play when reality comes into play and you do not have to make a girl toon to be serious competition in PVP. The hit box handicap for males is beyond stupid.

  3. ^^^ agreed, there should be an option for in-game character modification. The fact that males cant be same size and suffer from hit-box handicap is comical.

As long as you guys remember to add weapons for each type : Rifle (Shotgun & Sniper, hopefully we won't see BRs/ARs ignored... but their entire system needs a revamp), 1 Handed Melee (End of story, there needs to be new ones), 2 handed Melee (Obviously we have the Jet Engine Hammer), and Pistols (Light and Heavy, Big Bastards clearly have huge balance issues)

    And of course if we can net a variety of weapon choices it would be nice. Notice how you have worked on a Pistol Shotty, yet Crossbows/SMGs/Heavy Weapons are rare (if used at all) in current PVP. Obviously Heavy Weapons are used in larger groups, but they should feel like they are doing "something" as opposed to being more of a "hassle" for their group in many situations.

    I look forward to testing these new weapons, the AP system, and also providing an extremely detailed post of the system.

    As for Dome, I can't say it's "live" ready when it's clearly not finished... that and it will have to be re-balanced for these new weapons most likely. Let alone the fact Skathi confirmed GORE will become "balanced" quite a few weeks ago in LA. (And no, not by making more insanely OP weapons)

    Focusing on a project is great, but also focusing on your current state is just as important. Throwing in "new content" is not always good if there's clearly current issues to be addressed.

  5. What ever happened to the *Dome* being for PVE players?..or something PVE players could do and enjoy..as the Dome sits now, it's virtually impossible for 99% of strictly PVE players to even attempt because the normal PVE builds don't require the heals or weapons needed for the Dome!

    And here we go again with new weapons..

    How many PVE players get, or have Deathtoll?

    If PVE players can't play and complete the Dome, and they can't get DT unless they go PVP, you've once again directed FE to cater to PVP only basically..

    Go back and read your own original post about the *Dome* it clearly states that the *Dome* will be something for PVE players to do, and enjoy..not something that all PVE will have to fully respec their toons for..

    I can't agree more with some other comments as well...fix whats broken now before advancing forward onto another project..I'm positive that most players would rather have the old and recent bugs fixed before you add more..

    1. What PvE are you doing that you don't have first aid and 129 emp? Just curious because doing s3 stuff or farming basic mobs is hardly 'pve' or requiring a specific build. A citadel build falls into the later category...albeit i doubt they are that bad.

      Plus baz ino, why would devs make pve for a build with zero sustain? It either means that the mob would have to so little hp it's pointless or you can kite it so hard its ridiculous. No game EVER makes group/duo pve for nonsupport unless its a starter area or a game that encourages mobility/passive defenses. And it makes even less sense in a nonclass restricted game where a 7% ap investment provides you adequate teamheals for the majority of the game including dome.

  7. Really like the idea of AP Augmented weapons, But will it only be ranged weapons? I only use melee, but I love the Idea of having a weapon to upgrade. Also, I have won a few duels, but never accumulated any deathtoll. After reading the above comments about the hit box detection being sexist, i think I understand why 90% of the 'men' who troll me won't accept my duel challenge :P Honestly, since moving to sector 2 I haven't been harassed at all, its been quite nice.

    Sorry to ramble! I am glad that this game is still getting updates, but as others have stated, bug fixes should come before new content. I know I would much rather lose the lag than get any other new feature. I have the highest speed internet my shitty city offers (30 MB cable) and I do not use wi-fi and I have never been disconnected, unlike every other player I've met, but too often everyone is snapping around as if pulled by invisible rubber bands. It makes it tough to aim, and is the main reason I play solo. And if I earned a G1C every time i typed in /timesync while splitting stacks in my vault and waiting for them to appear, well, I would earn a few an hour. Performance would be the top priority if I had any say in the matter. Or maybe the ability to replace the low resolution landscape textures...

    1. Well you only get death toll from killing other players when you are /pvp flagged or in a pvp zone. Dueling just has a pointless duel rating attached to it.

      Ah, that makes sense, I guess. And is it pointless just because I have no way to view it? And I guess all the PVP battles I've won earned me no death toll because none of us were in a faction :/

  8. PVP is almost dead in this game and devs really need to do something about it. Hope the new weapons help to balance things. But i agree about the Dome being too tough.

  9. Players should be able to choose the difficulty level of the dome, normal or elite. Right now the Dome is at an elite difficulty level; most people can't do it.

  10. PVE is pretty much dead too. Trying the Dome on a melee toon is pointless if we can't get past stage 2. I have no interest in grind the 1st stage. It should be balanced and not favor pistol builds. Having to respec should not be a requirement for the Dome.

  11. Very excited for the future plans of the game, this game needs more player impact on the world. Would like to see player constructed towns.
